Marlins take the 1st game in the series of 5

July 28th, 2006 — article by

5 games in a series? What is that? Anyway, Marlins take the first game 4-1. It was a Pitching duel until the 7th inning. I just feel a Marlins sweep against the Phillies. I hate to say that in print but hey, everyone needs to go out on a limb from time to time. If not a sweep, a series win. The more I thought about it, 5 is tough…. Cody went 0-4 tonight. Should have been 2-2. Ross hit the ball hard. JUST IN THE WRONG PLACE. Go to www.floridamarlins.com for the wrap……..

Marlins Come Back Strong

Cody Ross keeps up his “streaky” hitting. What is exactly a streaky hitter.Does that mean he is comming off a slump. Does it mean he hits every now and then, or does it mean he just picked it up another notch. Ross is the only batter that the announcers call a streaky hitter. Gee, Hanley had a dry spell of like 0-22. He started hitting better. But Rameriz is “out of a slump”. Well Cody did the same thing. Cabrera is in a “hitless spell”, or “not producing.” “Uggla is out of sync”. Aren’t those all streaks, in the groove, on a roll, back on track, when a player finds his bat.

Anyway I had to rant. Ross goes 2-5 with two singles and 2 runs in a win over the Braves 6-1. It could have been 4-5. Cody is hitting the ball hard, and his swing is in check, smooth, fluid, level, confident. (I had to do that). Ross also scores two runs to help beat the Braves. My lord, Olsen pitched another great game going six innings and went 2-3 at bat. Yea you read that right. I don’t think Olsen has had two hits in his whole career. I read he was tired after running the bases. Thats why they took him out after the 6th inning and 97 pitches. Go Marlins, Go Cody Ross……..

On to Philly for a 5 game series in four days. Marlins

Marlins lose a close one

July 26th, 2006 — article by

The Marlins led in the 8th 5-4. But the Braves bats put the Marlins down in the bottom of the 8th. They won 6-5. Cody went 1-3 tonight with a single to center field and a walk. The walk was big because Ross, always being in the middle of things, got a ball called on a check swing. Out comes the Braves manager to argue. Boom, Braves manager thrown out of the game. After seeing the replay, it was a swing. Oh well. On the pre-game show tonight Cody got interviewed after his two home run game last night. He is so Humble. Got to love this guy. Always the team player that he his, shrugged off his good night. Girardi also said Cody has earned playing time and he will play. Duh!!!!!

The series tied 1-1. We will see what happens tomarrow. Game time 11 here in NM. I would like to note that I will not write a wrap or box or game summary here. My posts will mainly be about Cody and what he did in the game. As soon as I learn how to direct you to other articles written about the game or Cody, I will post them here. With any luck, Soon we will have Cody Blogging on the site. There will be a Q & A with Cody. That is the intention of this site. I am just filling in to get the site going. There are way to many sports writers out there that can sum up a game much better than I. So hang in with us until we get this thing rolling. Thanks

Ross Bombs the Braves

July 25th, 2006 — article by

I’m not sure how to start this post. A pitching duel all the way. But nobody told Cody Ross that. First up at bad in the second inning Ross lines one over the fence in left center. Marlins 1-0. We go to the fourth inning. Ross again lines one over the fence in left field. Marilns 2-0. Braves score one run all night against Sanchez. Marlins win the game 2-1. Cody has now hit 4 home runs in the last 6 games. We also got a peek at Cody’s arm as he throws out a runner trying to go to second base. Sanchez is now 4-0 since his debut against the Mets. I like the way that rhymes. This is Cody’s second multi-home run game since being in the Majors. 8 home runs for the season. I would say thats pretty damn good for only 100+ bats this year for three different teams. That hat rack is looking pretty stable…….. On and end note…… Cody made MVP for the game
