I am tired and it was a lonnnnnnng drive. But the Marlins took the series two to one. What a great trip. Thanks to Chris and Eric the banner for Cody got hung.  And we almost got kicked out of the stadium. If anyone was watching the game, it made the show….. Thanks to Alan for the banner. Thanks to Eric and Chris for risking their lives to hang the damn thing….Kenzie lost her camera to the center field dirt.  Had great pictures of the team during batting practice. All in all, everyone had a great time. Go Cody……………………………………………………………..

Marlins-1/Nationals-1

The series is even after two games. We are going to miss the third game as we will be on the road to Phoenix. Yep, about 36 people are going to the Marlins/Diamondbacks game Friday night. We will be there to support our own Cody Ross and the Marlins against the Diamondbacks. If you watch the game, we will be in right field second deck. Ya, we do have a banner for the Marlins, Cody and Carlsbad. I just can’t wait for our 5 seconds of fame (if a ball is hit our way). No posts till Tuesday from me. I know you can’t wait. You just gotta love this game……………

When Good Celebrations Go Bad

Willingham punishes the Mets, and Ross and Amezaga deal out some punishment of their own

“When I crossed the plate, I got mobbed. Everybody piled on top of me. It didn’t hurt. It felt good. The only part that hurt was Cody Ross missed my head and hit me in the face. And Alfredo Amezaga pulled up my shirt and slapped me in the stomach.”

Did you know…

August 6th, 2006 — article by

or do you know where and who hit the longest home run in recorded history?  Was it Jose Canseco’s towering blast to the upper deck in Toronto?  Nope.  How about Mickey Mantle’s 634′ shot at Briggs Stadium in Detroit?  Well, yes according to MLB writers, but the longest homerun ever struck was hit August 11th, 1959, in Carlsbad, New Mexico by Gil Carter of the Carlsbad Potashers (a minor league team).

“The sports editor of the Carlsbad Current-Argus, who was the official scorer that night, was also a service-trained aerial photographer. He was flown over the field the next day and photographed the scene. Prints were laid out on Montgomery’s desk. The monstrous stroke was measured and triangulated. Give-or-take a couple of inches, the ball was found seven hundred thirty feet from the vertex of home plate.”

If you would’ve told me that it was hit in Carlsbad I would’ve guessed Shane Andrews did it.  If I recall, in high school he hit one of the rockets near the bingo parlor off of 8th Street.  Someone will have to confirm that though.  Nonetheless, read about the home run that was hit by Gil Carter.  It has the aerial photo as well.

Dodgers Sweep

August 6th, 2006 — article by

Between errors, walks and bad calls the Marlins get bombed in the 7th inning to lose to the Dodgers 7-3. Why is the damn outfield so big? Ross hits one 400′ and it’s caught. That would be a homerun in any other park. Why are parks all different anyway? They should all be the same size. Between tallllllll scoreboards, gates that fly open, brick fences, a different foul area for every field and dugout areas that are all different. I’m supprised that all the bases are the same. Thats just wroooong. Somebody needs to go to Stadium Design College. Sorry I had to rant. Cody goes 1-4 with a run.On to the Nationals.
