Ross responsible for 5 of the 6 runs against the Braves tonight

April 24th, 2007 — article by

Cody Ross blasts a three-run homer in the first inning of Tuesday's contest. (Lynne Sladky/AP)Two men on base in the bottom of the first with two men on and two outs. BAM!!!!!!!!!!! Out of here. Ross has his third homerun of the season coming off the bench to bat against left handers platooning with Amezega. Whats with that? In the 5th inning Ross comes to bat again and hits another one out of the park just foul. Next pitch Cody hits one off the wall for a double and two more RBI’s. Marlins lose tonite 11-6. Cody was responsible for 5 of the 6 runs the Marlins scored. My question is why are the Marlins not playing this guy? I really don’t get it. Amezega is batting  .204, Borchard is batting .209.

Ross is batting .333 with 3 home runs for the year in just 35 games played. Being the best defensive player and offensive player  the Marlins have in the outfield, I just don’t get it. Are the Marlins setting him up for a trade? Ross’s stats are the best in the outfield to date. Granted his hits being against left handers as helped his stats platooning in the outfield with Amezega and Borchard, but give me a break. Give this kid a chance. I have always questioned stats as the defining worth as a player but now that we go to the stats……………Ross leads all the outfield in hitting and defense but he still sits the bench. I thought I liked Fredi as a manager, but after the first month of the season I have to ask the question as to why Cody is not starting in
Center or Right field? Cody has more rbi’s than Willingham in the thick of things with half the bats. What are you gonna dooooooooo? I reallly thought the Marlins organization had more scruples.

4 Straight Home Runs

Ross Hits 440-Foot HomerI hope someone else besides me saw that tonight. Red Sox hit 4 homeruns in a row, which has happened only once before in the 60s. It was crazy. I know that has nothing to do with Cody, but it’s baseball baby!

To finish this off lets put in the 440-foot homer Cody jacked against the Nationals.

Marlins break the losing streak

April 21st, 2007 — article by

Woe, Cody Ross hits a single and scores two runs for the Marlins. The rest of the bench comes thru with clutch hitting to beat the Nationals 9-3. Jason Woods hits a home run, his first since 1997. This Marlins team is going to be a story book ending mark my words. This is a strong bench…….The starting rotation will get their act together. A closer will emerge and WaLa a great Marlings team.. Stay tuned……

I have had enough

I am sorry that I did not post the last game that Cody played a week ago. He went 2-4 with a single and a double. Good numbers in this game. Well, tonite he came into the game in the ninth inning and hit a 440′ bomb that tied the game in the bottom of the ninth inning. In that week that Ross did not play, Eric Reed got called up because De Aza got put on the DL. Eric Reed has no business in the Majors, and has prooven so. He has done nothing in the games that he has played. Ross has been switched to platooning with Amezega in centerfield with Borchard getting the start in right field. I wonder if Fredi knows what the heck is going on. Cody is now tagged as being able to hit left handed pitchers only. Balony. He prooved that tonite. He also showed patience at the plate and drew a walk in the 13th or whatever inning it was. Cody is now batting .300 so Let Him Play Fredi…………This is Balony. Ross has a batting average better than Borchard, Willingham, or Amezega, and thats not Ross’s strong point, comming off the bench. He needs to play. Let him play Let him play…………….

DL for De Aza - Amezaga or Ross to Start

April 18th, 2007 — article by

From the Miami Herald:

“The Marlins placed rookie center fielder Alejandro De Aza on the disabled list with a sprained right ankle, retroactive to Monday. Alfredo Amezaga or Cody Ross will replace De Aza in the lineup, and outfielder Eric Reed was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque.”

I think Cody is starting per Dave’s comments on the prior post.
