Phillies spoil the opener for the Fish

April 6th, 2007 — article by

After looking good on defense against the Nationals with a flawless defense commit two errors against the Phillies to give up 5 unearned runs. The Marlins could not get their bats together against Phillies 44 year old pitcher Moyer. Ross started and went 0-3 with a walk. the positive thing is “no strike outs”.

Cody had a nice running catch in right field with a double play throw to second base.

Ross had A nice recognition for his family in the opening ceremonies before the game. They mentioned that Codys parents had flown in from New Mexico to watch the opener. They also mentioned that his wife Summer was there along with Hudson (Cody and Summers son) to see his first game. Pretty cool.

Marlins loose 8-2. Those Damn Phillies……..

Ross first, first, first

April 4th, 2007 — article by

Ross’ first start, first pitch, first swing. “OUT OF HERE”. You knew it was gone as soon as the bat hit the ball that went to the upperdeck with 2 RBIs. Cody also had a great sliding catch in right field, barely missing a double play throw to first. Now for the bad news. Nationals came back from 5-0 to win the game in the bottom of the ninth. Marlins still go home with a 2-1 record and A day off on thursday. Opening home day against the Phillies on Friday. I’m not so sure about our new closer. Julio is his name that should be down by the school yard.

Marlins rule over the Nationals in opening day

April 2nd, 2007 — article by

Hanley reminded us why he was rookie of the year in 2006. He went 4-6 with 4 runs and 2 stolen bases. Cabrera had 4 RBI’s with a two run homer. Uggla had a homer. De Aza went 2-4 in his first major league game. Willis stood tall on the mound with a win. Messenger actually pitched well as a middle reliever. Julio still needs some work as a closer. All in all it was a great game for first time manager Fredi Gonzales who got the game ball from Mike Jacobs. The only negative thing about this first game was from Willingham and Borchard who both went hitless for the day. You get my drift here. Go Marlins.
