Ross’s MRI

May 9th, 2007 — article by

Cody had an MRI yesterday and the good news is, its just a minor tear (microscopic). Two weeks on the dl and another two weeks in rehab. This could have been alot worse.

Hopefully Ross will be back in action in June. Interesting roster for the Marlins with De Aza back in a couple of weeks and Hermida as well. Marlins brought up Eric Reed to cover for Ross but was sent back to AAA Yesterday. Optioned up was our good buddy Abercrombie. He is hitting like .289 in AAA and has some stolen basses. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out when De Aza, Hermida and Ross get well again. I think Borchard is history. Amezega will get pulled from the outfield and the rest of the story will unfold in June…… Gotta love baseball.

Ross on 15 day DL

May 6th, 2007 — article by

Ross got his start agains left hander Cameron with the Padres. 2nd inning Ross hits a solo line shot out of the park. I mean drilled it out. 4th inning Cody draws a walk, steals second base and on an Olivo double, Ross rounds third base and feels something pop. Almost going to his knees he hobbles to home plate and scores the run. What an effort to keep going and score. If anyone has ever hurt a hamstring, you know how much it well……. hurts. That was really a gutsy play. Way to go Cody. The bad news is Ross had to be helped off the field and is now on the 15 day DL with a strained hami. I hope it is just a strain, a pulled hami can take a long time to heal…The Marlins had to call up Eric Reed after they just sent him back to AAA. He had actually not even left Miami yet. Marlins are really getting hammered with injuries. To make matters worse, the Marlins lost the game in the 12th inning 7-6 with some sloppy playing. They lost again on Sunday with some excellent pitching by the Padres Jake Peavy. Marlins lose the game 3-1 and the series 2-1. Marlins are now 14-16. Third in the division behind the Braves and Mets.

Marlins win an impressive game against the Mets in game 2

May 1st, 2007 — article by

Thanks to Josh Willingham’s triple in the first inning to score three runs and a 2 rbi home run in the eighth inning scoot by the Mets in a 5-2 victory. Nolasco came back from the DL with 6 strong innings only giving up one run. His pitching was on the money. You always wonder if an injured player can come off the DL and pitch. Nolasco’s pitching was flawless. Gregg, Tankersley and Owens came in from the bullpen to shut the Mets down. Two runs were shut down at the plate with throws from Hanley on a double steel attempt and Amezega on a throw to home plate. Olivo is the man behind the plate. This guy will be an allstar. The Marlins now 2-0 against the Mets meet tomarro at 11 am against the Mets for the final game in the series. Ross is slotted to start against the left hander Perez on the final game of the series.
