Cody, Cody, Cody

September 17th, 2007 — article by

Yea that was it tonite. Ross hits a second inning home run to tie the game at one each. Cody then goes on to hit two doubles. Ross accounted for 3 of the Marlins 6 runs. But the Marlins did lose 11-6 against the Braves. Cody’s batting average is up to .338 leading the batting average for the Marlins. Tonite Ross went 3/4. What was even sweeter, he hit his homerun off of Schmoltz who is having a great year and considered one of the best pitchers in the game. The Marlins were runless except for Codys homerun. That is sweet. You know it has been a rough year when Cody was out for two months. But he sure has made up for it in the last month. This guy has proven himself to be a and should be a starter in the big leauges. The Braves announcers had nothing but good things to say about Ross. That alone is a feat in itself…They talked about Cody’s chance to play on a full time level and how alot of players never get that chance. If you look at Ross’ numbers they are stellar. There is definetly no reason why Ross should not get a starting roll as centerfielder next year. First they called him a streaky hitter, then they called him a lefty hitter. Now they don’t know what to say except that he is on fire. If Ross stays healthy next year hands down he needs 500 at bats. I hate to repeat myself but if you extrapulate it out he would have well over 30 homeruns. I know that is hard to do with only 157 at bats but his power numbers have always been there. His eye at the plate has improved 100%. His patience at the plate has improved 100% and it shows. Schmoltz has only given up 15 home runs all season and Cody has one of them. Cody loves the Braves and we love Cody…..You go my man.

Sanchez’ good luck charm

3homernite_edited.jpgHere is a blast from the past year. Cody with Anibal Sanchez. You know the guy that pitched the no hitter in 2006. Still injured and suing the Marlins over lost pay. I just learned how to upload pictures. Sanchez always did well pitching when Cody played.

Dat darn Hammy

September 12th, 2007 — article by

Cody left the game on Monday after a tightness in his left hamstring. The same one he pulled earlier this year. He felt the hamstring tighten up when he hit a home run against the Nats on 9-11. That is scary to hear after such a great season going since the allstar break. Ross is hitting .356 after the break making him the 9th best batter in the National league and the leader for the Marlins. Wow. Cody is listed as day to day, I sure hope he won’t play if he is hurt.  Don’t get me wrong I love it when Ross plays but at this time in the season what is the point? IF he tweaks it again the injury could be worse. . Last year on 9-11 Cody had his 3 homer night with 7 RBI’s against the Mets. Ross still leads the team in batting average with a .336.

The entire Ross family is going to Denver this week to see the Marlins play the Rockies. I hope Cody plays healthy and you guys have a great trip……..

Cody Still hittng the ball hard

Cody goes two for three last night against the Nats. Has an awesome assist at home plate, but is not enough to win the darn game. Nats win 5-4. Ross started in center last night again. I love it when I am wrong.

Cody Ross’s streak ends at 10

September 9th, 2007 — article by

After going for a ten game hitting streak it ends today with the Phillies beating the Marlins 8-5. Well thats why they call it a streak eh. All good things come to an end, and Cody had a good run. I think he tied Hanley with 10 games. Not bad for a player that was out for two months with a hamstring injury, the worst batting average on the team coming out of spring training and little playing time when he came off the DL. Never a contender for a starting job in centerfield from the eyes of FO. He has proven the wise ones wrong again doing a great job in centerfield. The question now is, will he start against the Nationals in centerfield? Those of you that go to the Marlins board (all three of us) and look at the depth chart Cody is listed as backup leftfielder. What is up with that? I cannot understand at this point why Ross is not considered for centerfield. It just baffles the heck out of me. Imagine that, me being baffled. Now that Ross has his ofer, it will be interesting to see who Fredi starts in center tomarro night. Go Ross…….
