Can Fredi chew gum and walk at the same time?

May 12th, 2008 — article by

Talk about a myopic manager. Fredi lost the game against the Reds tonight with his stupid decisions. He continues to start Amezega in centerfield who cannot get a jump on the ball or hit a ball out of the infield. Everyone (including Fredi) marvels at how good Amezega is at defense. Baloney. He gets a late start on the ball and has to dive to make a catch. One got over his head last night against the Nats that he misjudged. Ross would have caught it. Amezega went 0-5 tonight and left 5 runners on base. To top that blunder, Fredi puts Tankersly in the game with an over 6 era when the game is tied. Two home runs and 4 runs later Fredi decides maybe Tank ain’t the guy. Too late, Marlins lose 8-7 against the Reds. LET ROSS GET SOME PLAYING TIME.

Ross kicks off a 12-0 win over the Nats

First pitch of the game and Cody nails a homerun to left field. Gotta love that swing. Ross scores three runs in the game going 1-3 with two walks and 3 runs. Dan Uggla hit a grand slam in the 6th to put away the game. Andrew Miller pitched a great game only giving up two hits. Marlins now leading the NLE by two games. FSN and ESPN still dishing the Marlins…….. Go figure. The best start of any Marlins team and they are getting ignored by the baseball Gods. Gotta love the press. Go Cody. Go Marlins. FREDI, let the kid play…………………………………………………………………

Ross gets a start

I couldn’t believe it. A right hander pitching and Cody gets a start. First at bat Cody hits a single over the second baseman, steals second, and goes to third on a throwing error from the catcher. Cody scores a run off a sac fly from Rameriz. Cody makes several great catches in centerfield. There were no diving plays like Amezega had because Ross gets a better jump on the ball. thats just my opinion of course. Marlins go on to win the game 7-3 against the Nationals. The Marlins are now leading the NLE by 1 1/2 games over the Phillies.
Marlins news has a 70 million 6 year deal in the works with Hanley Ramirez. Good move Loria. Bout time you payed players what they are worth. Hanley would be the first person I would want in my new house.
Seems like Cody has done everything in centerfield that is asked of him. We can debate his batting average all day long, but if you don’t play but once a week, your not gonna be on your game. Seems like Fredi would rotate Ross in left field also, although Gonzo is hitting very well. Sitting the bench can be the worst thing for a player and Ross has done that alot. Gotta wonder if something is in the wind. Rotting on the bench is not Cody’s idea of baseball and it shows when he gets a pinch at bat from time to time. Hermida could use a day off. IT seems like the Marlins are balking on Cody for no other reason than a slow start at the plate. But when he starts, he produces more than Amezega. Nothing agains Amezega but you would think they would atleast get equall time in centerfield. Or atleast give Ross a start from time to time in left and right field.

More Hits and Runs With The World’s Greatest Rivalry

This came in from the AP today:

Yankees fan accused of running down and killing Red Sox heckler

Marlins take the series against the Padres

May 4th, 2008 — article by

Andrew Miller had his best outing of the year going six innings giving up 4 hits and two runs to get the win over Gregg Maddux leaving the game in the fifth after Cody Ross hits an RBI single to take the lead over the Padres 4-2. Marlins went on to win it 10-3.

Cody started the game batting first. Yea thats right batting first and against a right hander. Not just any right hander it was Gregg Maddux. First at bat saw Cody with a line shot over the fence a foot foul. Darn. Same thing in the third, over the fence foul ball. Looks like Ross is getting his swing back. He had his hit to the opposite field over the first basemans head. Clean shot that exited Maddox from the game. So Ross goes 1-4 for the day. I guess I shouldn’t say Cody got his swing back because it never went anywhere. Cody has not struck out much this year, it just seems the ball goes to the wrong place. I swear this kid could not buy a hit for while. Now that he is hitting Fredi, manager of managers, King Fish, Skipper, Big Dog, The King, General, Leader of the Pack, Boss Man, ok ok enough. Maybe you should think about playing him more. Marlins are a half game out behind the Phillies and a couple of points behind the Mets.
