Clutch, clutch hitting and more announcing………

July 28th, 2008 — article by

Cody moved into the announcing roll tonight doing all the promos for the Marlins. Wait, he also had two clutch hits with 2 rbi’s that helped win the game against the METS. Make your mind up Cody. Are you the next Eric Burns. Tell me it ain’t so. I know how you love Eric and want to emulate him. Ha ha. Great job Ross hitting in the tying run and then hitting in the go ahead run for the Marlins beating the Mets 7-3. Just a game back in the NLE. Ross is doing his job well. Its just a toss up with that great announcing today. Play ball verses announce. I would still play ball Cody, and you are playing ball. Great job.

Marlins take the series 2-1 against the Phillies

Well, Ross missed his cycle by a home run yesterday which he got today to tie the game in the 8th inning 2-2. Also to note it was to right field. Cantu hit the walk off run off the scorebaord beating the Phillies in the 11th inning 3-2. Marlins are getting their pitching back with Johnson. Sanchez to return in Chicago. Just in time to see this NLE going head to head. Marlins are a half game back behind Philly and the Mets. This is the tightest race in baseball. This should be a very exciting second half of the season. Sit tight and enjoy.

Just another average day for Ross

This saturday started out in frustration again. Fox is going to air the game on national TV. Great! We’re going to hear the big time announcers and see the Marlins on National TV. NOT> We got the Red Sox v Angels game. My XM antenna was out so it looked like we were going to spend another afternoon in the truck………Another trip to the dredded WALMART to get a new antenna. It worked, and we got to listen to the game on the frickin radio. Coulda been worse I guess. As soon as Cody’s first bat started with a single, I knew it was going to be a good day from here. Cody’s next bat was a triple to right field almost over the wall, Cody’s third bat was a double. Holy shit. A home run away from the cycle which no Marlin has ever achieved. It was not to be but he was close to that elusive feat. Seems Cody is sticking his bat in places where not many Marlins have been. Last night ended his 17 game hitting streak. Darn@#$%. Only one other Marlin has gone that far with a hitting streak. Today was just one homerun away from another milestone for a Marlin. Pretty good for a guy that has had to fight tooth and nail to play fulltime. As the game ended on NATIONAL TV I listened on the radio to the postgame and wondered how the headlines would have read if Cody had gone for the cycle. IT was just another game for Cody. 3 for 5 and just a liner note of the feat not met. Just another game for Ross. A good one at that……. OH by the way, Marlins won the game 9-5. A game and a half behind the Phillies.

Lets move that streak up a bit: 17 game hitting streak

July 13th, 2008 — article by

After the Marlins got pounded today by the Dodgers or should I say Andrew Miller got pounded today losing 9-1 there was a positive note. Cody extends his hitting streak to 17 games. This ties the Marlins record. What this really means is Cody has had a chance to play in 17 + games to get there. Enough said.

Ross on a 11 game hitting streak

July 7th, 2008 — article by

Yep that breaks his record from I don’t know when but he has done it. To update his series against the Rockies. The last person to to go 12 for 20 in a 4 game series with 15 RBI’s was in 1977. I can’t remember the guys name but what does it matter. 3 for 5, four games in a row.  Ross is hot and he has extended his hitting streak to 11 games. The Marlins anouncers couldn’t figure out why Cody was not the player of the week with his burst of hits. Probably because he plays for the Marlins. Lowest payroll in baseball. That makes it even better. Oh and the Marlins won tonight 3-1. That puts them 2 1 /2 games behind the Phillies. More good news for the Marlins, they get back Josh Johnson comming off Tommy John surgery. The second half of the season will be interesting. With Ross playing centerfield his numbers will only rise. Bank it. Way to go Cody !!! You are the MAN.
