Cody Gump

October 26th, 2008 — article by

Sorry folks, I got the heads up about three days ago that Cody was going to be interviewed on XM radio before  game 4 of the world series. My first thought was why would XM want to interview an outfielder from the Marlins on a pregame show for the world series. Stupid me, he was interviewed and did a great job. Lets see Cody thats 700 other ball players on major league teams that could have been  interviewed before a world series game. Yet you got the call. I would call that a gumpism. Then I started thinking about it. Cody is always in the right place at the right time for the media and press. He was playing right field when Bonds hit his record breaking home run….Cody rarely playes right field. FSN was always interviewing Ross. Cody gets to introduce the lineup, Cody gets interviewed during a game while he is on the bench. Ross got numeruous interviews before and after games.  Ever notice that Ross is always in the picture when there is a walk off game win. He’s everywhere. Is it just me or am I on to something here? Then there is the imfamous picture of Ross in the face of that stupid umpire that ended up all over the net. Hmmmmmmmmm:)

Cody Ranked MLB’s 8th Best Center Fielder for 2008

October 24th, 2008 — article by

Sky Kalkman breaks it down by the numbers on beyondtheboxscore.com.  He has Cody Ross ranked at #8 for the best center fileders in the MLB for 2008.  While he may not be the voice of MLB, and others may not agree, that’s one hell of a good breakdown.  Of course, we readers here will agree.

On another note, for you music lovers, check out the song ‘Cath…” from “Death Cab for Cutie”.  Damn good jam.

What a Comeback!!!

October 17th, 2008 — article by

What is it with the Red Sox in the post season when facing elimination? Who can forget in 2004 when the Sox were down to the Yankees in the ALCS at 0-3 (after a 19-8 beating) and staged the greatest series comeback of all-time?  They then went on to sweep St. Louis in the World Series.  What about the 2007 ALCS being down 1-3 against the Cleveland Indians facing elimination?  Another comeback, with the Red Sox going on to sweep the Colorado Rockies in the World Series (I got to watch game 3 with Eric, Dave, Cody, Mackenzie, Robin E., Justin and crew… thanks for the memories guys!)

For those who watched Thursday’s Rays beatdown of the Red Sox through 7 innings, you were probably like me, thinking this was a wash.  What came after that was one the greatest comebacks in post season history… at least in 79 years, and I’m not sure if that was an elimination game.

Funny how I forgot all those years without a World Series victory and seeing the “We Believe” signs in the stands and Boston’s recent penchant for series comebacks.  Well,  the memory is back.  I recant any earlier comments.  I believe!

Rumor mill

October 14th, 2008 — article by

This will probably be an ongoing post in the off season for Ross fans. No big news at the moment but it is rumored that Cody got an “end of the year” DVD from the Marlins for 2008. If I can get my hands on it, I will make copies for whoever wants one.

Rumor no more is that Summer and Cody are pregnant with their second child. I saw Summer and she is definitely pregnant. LOL.  A girl is on the way for the Ross’ in February. Congrats guys on your second child.

Rumor has it that Ross, Helms (which has already signed a contract) and Uggla will be back next year. Yahoo.

Olson, Gregg, Mitre (who is already gone), and Gonzo will not be back as a Marlin.

That’s it for now as the Rays just stomped the Red Sox 13-4 in game 4. Rays lead the series 3-1. Sorry Robin.

Phillies are ahead against the Dodgers 3-1.

Cody is rooting for the Phillies. Gotta defend the NLE. I’m with ya on that.

That’s as far as it goes for me. I’m going for the Rays in the World Series. Florida boy I guess but they have had an awesome season and look really strong.
