Cody ready for 2009
It was a long day for Cody, Summer and Hudson on Christmas day. Lots of family in the Carlsbad area to visit for the holidays. Summer organized a surprise birthday party on the 23rd. . Alot of Cody’s friends and family were there for the occasion. Robin Earwood entertained the party all night long. I took some pictures that Robin Rowell will post as soon as he can. Hint hint hint. I know he is waiting for the updated wordpress to come out before the pictures are added so thats ok Robin. Cody and family head back to Scottsdale on the 28th to get ready for spring training in Jupiter. Summer and Cody are also expecting a baby girl in late Febuary. For the first time in Cody’s major league career he will not be competing for a starting position. Ross seems to be the only sure thing in the outfield for the Marlins in 2009. Hermida is still on the trading block as of this writing and Maybin who is slotted for centerfield still has to prove himself. There has been talk of moving Hermida to left field and Cody to rightfield, assuming Maybin can cut it in center. If Hermida gets traded, Brett Carroll would be the next person in line for the outfield. With that being said, we will miss Josh Willingham who got traded to the Nationals. Mike Jacobs who went to the Royals along with Scott Olson. The Marlins also lost Gregg, Nelson, Rhodes, Rabelo, Hendrickson, Traynor, Gonzales, Lo Duca, and Waechter. I know I’m leaving someone out.
I did ask Cody what was up with the maple bats that MLB has been investigating. They will come up with a scale that involves moister of the bat. Seems that the bats that are endangering the fans and the players are bats that are too dry. Makes sense. stay tuned on that one. MLB will not change the diameter of the handle or anything else. Sounds like a government study………..Whatever that means. Millions of dollars later…………Bat boy gets empailed by a broken bat………..You know where I’m going with this. So, with all the high dollar players on one team (the Yanks), think there might need to be a SALARY CAP. Every other sport has it and the MLB needs to get with the program. Now I’m rambling. Stay tuned for more rumblings from yours truely. Happy Holidays
