Marlins get back on track

June 29th, 2009 — article by

cody-0111It was a pitching duel between Nolasco and ex Marlin pitcher Scott Olson. Both pitched excellent games but Nolasco gets the win over the Nats 4-2.  Ross was 0-3 with a walk and RBI. Olson would not give Cody anything to hit in the 8th inning with the bases loaded.  Pitched him 4 balls in a row. Ross gets the rbi.  Here is a great shot of Cody against the Rays against the wall. Above is a picture of Cody, Haven, Jason and Parker at his first baseball game. Jason was Firehouse family until he moved to Tampa. Kids look great don’t they.  Thanks for the Pic Jason. Long live baseball. Glad you got to visit with Cody.rosswall

Marlins get swept out of Ray land

June 28th, 2009 — article by

It wasn’t a strong sweep, you the kind you get when you push that broom and stir up allot of dust. It was little swoop of the broom to push that dust just under the rug. Hard played, well pitched games were played in Tampa (actually St. Pete). Tampa played small ball and it won them the series. Marlins left runners on base and could not hit situational hitting. Lets hope Washington cools off a bit……

There is an interesting article at the Marlins web site on Cody. Check it out.

Marlins lose 3-2 in the ninth against the Rays…..

June 27th, 2009 — article by

IT was almost a repeat of last night except the winning run was in the ninth. Good pitching from both clubs kept the runs down but that one statistic that has killed the Marlins lost them the game. Stolen bases. Bottom of the ninth game tied 2-2, Rays get a hit, steel a base, get to third on a wild pitch, sac fly to center field to lose the game. That pretty much sums it up. Cody was 1-4 with a single. If I have to listen to one more game with the Rays announcers I am going to lose it. These guys are the most boring announcers in baseball……Anybody feel the same way? I often think I am talking to myself on this board.  Gotta love it……..

Florida at Tampa

It was a 3-3 tie until the 8th inning when Pinto loaded the bases and then gave up a double to clear the basses. Rays take the first game 7-3. Johnson gave up 7 hits and 3 runs through six innings of work. Ross hit the ball hard all night but could not get a hit.  He was 0-4.

Cody’s comments to the ump the other night on two bad pitch calls:  Something to the effect of ” I might as well go get my glove.”  Gotta love the friendly sarcasm. Better than getting in the umps face and getting thrown out of the game.

Marlins slam there way to a sweep against the Orioles!!!

June 25th, 2009 — article by

Sean West threw six scoreless innings only giving up 4 hits and Tim Wood makes his pitching debut to give up one hit in the two innings he pitched. Cody started the scoring by swinging a two run homer. Ross is now on a six game hitting streak, average up to .283, 13 home runs and has 45 RBI’s. Ross was 2-4 tonight. Hanley Ramirez hit his second grand slam in the series and now ties Ross with 3 grand slams for the year. Dan Uggla also hit a two run homer to bring his total to 15. Marlins are on fire. Lets hope they can keep it up in Tampa. Marlins 1 game back in the East behind the Phillies and Mets…….Oh yea and Ross makes another web gem, catch in center field. Is anyone keeping count on web gems this year for Ross?  So, Cody how does that knee feel. Was it the knee that was operated on? Are you OK dude?
