Cantu Traded

July 30th, 2010 — article by

Not sure what that was all about! Was it to get Cantu out of the lineup? The Marlins traded a valuable player for two pitchers that are no good to them this year. Tell me if I’m wrong but I think the Marlins need a starting pitcher NOW! What was the frickin point in that? We may never know. I hope these pitchers kick ass in the next couple of years. BFD. Marlins are now 10-4 after the allstar break. Not bad for a team that was struggling to break even into the allstar break. I love giving Helms a shot at third base but I don’t think he will produce like Cantu would have done. Granted Cantu was in a slump but so is Hanley. Hanley hasn’t done shit in the last 22 games. Should the Marlins trade him. NO. Same with Cantu. I think the Marlins made a bad move in this tight race in the NLE. Period.

Marlins on a roll!

No I decided not to let the site go. I might not be as active on this site, but the response is not there either!  I know there has been log in issues that I have no control over. Ross is still playing, the site will go on.

Marlins squeek out a close one with the Giants. Ross  Gets a crucial base hit and scores a run. Later in the game Ross hits a sac fly to score another run. Homers by Uggla and Stanton were big but without Ross’ play the Marlins would have lost the game. Cody has quit his homerun swing for more contact and singles. Good move Cody. Marlins on a roll with a 50-49 season so far. I think the trade rumors are dead with Cody. Who in the heck would the Marlins put in Centerfield if they traded him? Brett Carrol comes to mind who has never played centerfield. Maybin is hurt. With this streak the Marlins are in I hope they go for it and atleast get a bullpen pitcher if they trade Cantu! Wes should be playing third base anyway. I like Cantu but he is a better first baseman. No way he is taking Gaby’s spot. Trade Cantu for a pitcher thats ready to go. A lefty would be nice!

The Big Allstar Break

Cudos to the NL for finally beating the AL after 14 years of dominance. About time. More pending news now that the allstar game is over. What are the Marlins doing? Nothing it seems. Fired a perfectly good manager and now it looks as though some key Marlins are on the trading block including Cody Ross, Cantu, Uggla, and Nolasco. What! Marlins have already given up the season with their own inept ability to acquire some bullpen help when pitchers were hurt. Some hard fought games that were lost during the first half and Loria is backpeddlin fast. Lets just jump off that horse in the middle of the stream!!! If these players go and the Marlins acquire pitching which seems like a no brainer, who will be in the starting lineup come 2011? Enter Maybin who is still green, Logan Morrison who has never played in the bigs, Bonifacio who still can’t hit and so on. Who will take Nolasco’s spot in the rotation? Miller? Hensley? Vandenhurk? Voldstad? I think not. They better get some good trades for what they are possibly gonna give up….. I thought they wanted to have a full stadium in 2012. They will lose another fan base if the fire sale begins. If these four players go, so goes the Marlins>

With that being said, rumors have it that the Braves are looking at Cody to fill a spot in the outfield. Fans are mixed about this trade. Mainly because Ross does not have the power numbers he had last year. Balony on that. His average is up, OBP is up, and he is better than an average outfielder on defense. I love these guys that just look at the numbers and have never watched him play the outfield. He would be a big plus to the Braves.. I would actually like to see Ross go to the Phillies and play with his old buddies from the minor’s being Victorino and Worth. Next two weeks should be interesting before the trade deadline…
