Marlins game tonight

August 24th, 2010 — article by

I am not sure who watched the Marlins tonight but it was the first game without Cody. I have never heard the Marlins crew being Rich, Tommy, and Craig give such cudos to a player that has left the Marlins. Not Cabrera, Willis or Cantu. He was truly loved by the Marlins and the staff. It brought a tear to my eye when they talked so highly about Cody. They even had a highlight reel on Cody after the game. It was e-mail Tuesday and there were tons of angry e-mailers about Cody leaving the team. Not many players can leave such an impact on a team, but Ross did that with style. One thing for sure, everyone thought it was a good career move for Ross. I guess time will tell. Cody will be a non tender player next year meaning he will basically be a free agent looking for a team. I think what happens with the Giants will tell the story. Cody is off to a good start going one for one last night and as I write this he starts in right field and is one for one with an rbi. Cody coming up to bat as I write this with the Giants ahead 4-1.  Grounded out to third base. Ok Ross 2 for 3 as a Giant. Keep it up bubba.

I understand what the Marlins did and agree thats what they had to do. If Maybin is the centerfielder of the future they need to find out now. We all knew this was coming just not this soon. If Maybin doesn’t cut it they might sign Cody back. Who knows its baseball…..

Ross a Giant

August 23rd, 2010 — article by

So baseball goes and the Marlins lose their star player. Cody Ross got put on waivers, the Giants picked him up and Loria stuffs a million bucks in his pocket. End of that story. We all knew it was coming just not this way. Marlins get nothing in return for Ross other than saving a million bucks in payroll. They have already given up the season it seems and Cody was the pivotal move for the Marlins saying by by for the season. I hope you choke on that million Loria. Meanwhile Cody gets a chance to play for a real team with real contentions. in the NLW. The Giants have a strong outfield already. I initially thought they picked up Cody to block the Padres from getting him. Padres denied this as only a minor interest in Ross. My second thought was that they picked up Cody to trade. I guess not. Roster moves were made and Ross made it into the game wearing # 13 ( weird to see Ross in a Giant uniform). First at bat Ross gets a single to center field and scores a run. Go Cody, I hope you can be a starter for the Giants.  Giants win the game against the Reds 11-2. Could be a good omen. Cody doing his best Forrest Gump role as he is interviewed after the game. Great interview Cody. Welcome to a real team with real intentions. The scenery  ain’t bad either eh!

Ross goes to the Giants!

We knew it was only a matter of time before Cody left the Marlins. They way he left was shamefull and useless. Basiclly Cody was put on waivers and the Giants picked him up. End of story. No trades were made by the Giants to the Marlins. Loria just pocketed a 1.1 million dollars getting rid of Ross and not getting anything in return. Way to go Loria. I hope you choke on that million bucks. You gotta wonder if it goes back to the beginning of the season when Ross filed for Arbitration and won. OK Marlins you got the last laugh here but it will burn you in the end. Rumor has it that the Giants picked up Ross to avoid the Padres from picking him up. Padres deny that they wanted Ross. He was a minor interest to the Padres. Maybe true, maybe not. I am not sure why the Giants picked up Ross. They do not need another outfielder. Cody’s playing time will greatly be diminished with the Giants. I really thought there was another trade brewing with Cody being the bait. Not so far. Cody showed up tonight in orange and black wearing # 13. That looked weird. It is exciting seeing Cody playing with a team that has playoff potential. As I write this, Cody just got put in center field in the 7th inning. That is good news. Of course the Giants are leading the Reds 7-2. I wanna see Cody make a diving catch and throw out a guy at home plate to prove to the Giants fans that he is not just a mediocre player as some have called him. Kick ass Cody we want to see you as a starter with the Giants and not just a fill in player………Good luck buddy!
