Whats in store for Ross next year?

November 9th, 2010 — article by

Ok! Everyone has calmed down, pinched themselves in the butt and realized what Cody Ross did in the playoffs were real. I saw Cody’s dad yesterday and ask him if he had come down yet, he said I’m trying to with a shit eating grin on his face. The last month for this man has been a roller coaster of emotions. Marlins putting Ross on waivers, picked up by the Giants, sporadic playing time, Giants in the race for the NLE, Cody working his way into the line up every day, producing runs and playing stellar defense, Giants in the playoffs, Cody hitting two home runs off of Halliday which Kenny predicted his son would hit another one after the first one. That’s knowing your kid……Cody almost single handedly took the Giants to the world series, MVP of the NLCS, an instant star in San Fransisco, reporters, interviews, pictures, on the road with the team, screw work, we got more important things to do Janet…….

Its time like I do every year to predict what Cody will make next year, and this time around wonder what team he will play with. Rumors are that the Giants want to keep him (DUH!). The Giants do have payroll constraints that will come into effect for next year. Ross will make more than his 4.25 mill last year.  The General manager said they will keep Cody. For one year or more is the question. They have control over Cody for 2011 and then Ross is a free agent. Will they sign him to a multi year contract to avoid free agency? Will they trade him? Will they sign him to a one year deal and try to trade him after 2011? These are questions that will be answered this off season. Stay tuned folks the off season can almost be exciting as the season.

Big city reporters

After all of Cody’s achievements, his home town of Carlsbad NM. shows support of the now superstar. Ross has already been on Jay Leno after he won MVP of the NLC. Kenzie tells us he will hit the talk show circuit again in the coming weeks. Looks like he will not make it to Carlsbad till December. There is a parade all ready in the works. Gov. Richardson declared a Cody Ross day. There is talk about naming a street after him in Carlsbad. Raul Quinta from Decor of Carlsbad suggested the street that the sports complex in on. This is a great idea. Cody is the first New Mexican to play in a world series much less be the pivotal factor for the Giants getting to the world series. Today’s Carlsbad Current Argus had a full page picture of Ross holding the World Series Trophy. Tate Branch took out a full page ad with pictures of Cody from high school to the Giants. Its really nuts here in Carlsbad, he is the talk of the town. Ross put Carlsbad, NM on the map. He was due. Always the down to earth nice guy that everyone likes.

I was driving around town taking pictures today of all the Cody signs and spotted the Alb. news channel KOAT with a camera and reporter trying to get some response to Cody’s success. The people they were chasing were not from town so I stepped up and said I’ll talk about Cody! I had a Giants NLE championship shirt on so they bit. I think all I could say was it was still surreal to Carlsbad folks on what Cody had really done. They moved on to Kenzie’s nail shop and she did a great interview that showed on the Alb. news channel. Our good buddy Jesse Hernandez also got on camera with great things to say about Cody. Here are some pics from around town about our home town hero!

November 1st, 2010 — article by

Yes I am numb……I still can’t believe it. Cody Gump comes up strong with a base hit in the 7th inning no outs. Juan Uribe hits another base hit to put runners on first and second with no outs. Aubre Huff hits a sac bunt to put runners on second and third with no outs. Pat Burrell up and strikes out. Edgar Renteria comes up and hits a three run homer to put the giants ahead 3-0. Texas comes up with one run but not enough to beat the scrappers from San Fran. What a frickin game. Lincecum pitches thru the 8th inning and Wilson closes to win the game. Hats go off to the Giants and the scrap team they put together to beat the Braves, Phillies and the Rangers…..Baseball is made of dreams and there are alot of dreams made today……Congrats go out to the Giants for a great world series ring………
