About Cody Ross and

July 14th, 2006 — article by

This website is a fan blog and news site supported by the fans of Cody Ross.

Cody Ross is from a small town in southeast New Mexico called “Carlsbad”. There isn’t much there except desert and a cave, but one thing is for sure, the town loves its baseball.

Cody J. Ross…wife’s name is Summer…graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1999, earning Baseball America‘s Second-Team High School All-American honors during his senior season…batted .525 (34-for-60) with 12 home runs, 45 RBI and 15 stolen bases…also threw a perfect game during his high school career…batted against Phil Mickelson in the golfer’s tryout with the Toledo Mud Hens in 2003…originally signed by Tigers’ scout Jim Olander.

Assistant Varsity coach Bobby Click had this to say about Cody:

“…a great athlete. Extremely strong, quick and has a tremendous arm. He is a bulldog between the white lines. He is a great team leader and a money player.”

Cody’s favorite player is Ken Griffey Jr., who he named his dog after. Cody had the unlucky luck to go on the DL just after getting traded from L.A. to the Reds. While on the DL, guess who else was on DL? Yep, Cody got to work out with Griffey Jr. while they were “healing”. Now there’s a dream come true.

My son played ball with Cody in his early years in ALLEN, TX. I think they moved to NM while he was in middle school or maybe his freshman year in HS

I had the privilege of playing baseball with Cody for 3 years on the Collin County Phillies. Cody is not only a great baseball player, but a great person as well. I’m not surprised one bit at his success up to this point and I look forward to seeing great things from Cody in the future. I’m still hoping the Astros will sign him one day!

does Cody have some medical condition ? Is that why he shaves his head ? because he is not that old to be bald. could he have a thyroid problem ? because hypothyroid does cause people’s hair to fall out at a young age. I do not want to get into his personal business but I think I may have the same disorder. And Cody Ross is my favorite current baseball player and favorite Marlin. And if I knew that him and I shared the same disorder I would like him even more. I love going to the games to watch him play.

cgoddard, hilarious. I thought I was the only one here. I remember the day that I heard that he hit the 2 homeruns with the Dodgers. I called my mom to luck it up and she was blown away. I am sure I have some incriminating pics from kindergarten. Technically he is from Fairview, Tx.

Congratulations Cody on your first World Championship!!! Tell your mom and dad hello from an old friend in Plano. It was a blast watching you throughout the playoffs and seeing you get the MVP of the NLCS. I am suprised that the local media never mentioned that you lived in Allen for a few years. It was hard watching you and the Giants take apart the Rangers the way you did, but if we were going to lose, I wanted it to be you and the Giants that beat us!!! Congrats again and I am sure that Ian would second that as well!! MIke

Congratulations Cody on becoming a World Champion. My ten year old son, Ethan and I enjoyed watching you win the series and your leap for joy in the final game. It’s nice to have a champion born in Portales. I wonder if you would be willing to come back to your place of birth and talk to the youth of our community about what it takes to become a Champion. I’m sure with a little effort and preparation on our part, we would pack in the high school or university auditorium or gym. I represent the largest children’s charity in New Mexico. Since you are familiar with our area, you know it’s hard for us to connect with celebrity endorsements, and admittedly, I’m proud to court you as a speaker, role model and friend of needy children.

Hi Cody. Saw you at the game in SF tonight and wanted to apologize for all the fans here who have seemingly forgotten how great you were with the Giants. I’m a huge Giants fan but I was cheering for you. Great seeing you out there in right field. Amazing catch! We miss you out here in San Francisco. You were instantly one of my favorite players and still are. Thank you!

Hey Cody: I was working for the Texas Rangers in 1999. My scouting report on you included a “1st round number (OFP = 65)”. Obviously, the Rangers did not listen to me. I would say you turned out just like the people in Carlsbad said you would (I was listening). Congratulations!!!

Cody–It’s good to see you playing again. Not as much fun watching D’Backs with you gone. I knew your uncle Horace and his family in Carlsbad. (since the 6th grade). So we feel like we’re watching someone we know. Keep up the good work, and take care.
