Cody gets his 3 year contract!

December 22nd, 2012 — article by

I really thought Ross would sign with the Redsox! Then it was rumored the Yankees, Mariners, Rangers, and Phillies. Out of nowhere the Arizona Diamondbacks sign Cody to a 26 million dollar three year deal with a million dollar option for a fourth year! Way to go Cody Ross! You are finally getting paid closer to what you are worth. Nothing like signing with a team thats in your backyard. Congrats to the Ross family and all their fans that can drive to Phoenix for games next year.

Way to go Cody, really happy for you. I was a Giant’s fan all my life and you were such a huge part of the 2010 championship, my favorite Giant from that year. Great luck with the Dbacks, welcome back to the NL west. It’s great that you got with a team so close to home.

Thank you, Cody, for an outstanding performance with the Red Sox in 2012. I think you had a great attitude and were an a great team member. I will miss not seeing you play at Fenway Park in 2013, but I wish you every success with the Diamondbacks. I know you will enjoy being near your family.
    Sincerely, Les Weiner

Cody, your performance was one of the great highlights in an otherwise dismal season here in Boston.

All should know – the fans also respected your performance by voting you as the “10th Player” – a prestigious fan award.

And I suspected disappointment – when, instead of presenting the award to you on the field at the last home game in Fenway (as it’s traditionally done, so the fans can share in it), it was awarded in an “oh by the way you won it” part of a pre-game locker room interview. My wife and I were happy for you, but were upset because that action may have indicated that they weren’t going to bring you back.

You will be missed – you were a fan favorite, a great performer here. Perhaps the Red Sox front office can make up for the error by re-awarding it to you on the field, when the Diamondbacks come to Fenway in August. Good luck with the ‘backs…. we lament your departure, but couldn’t be happier for you.

Best of luck for 2013 Cody, your a class act and I can’t thank you for the time you took on fan day at Fenway in 2012. My kids were all over you and you answered all the questions and took many pics with them…all with that signature smile on your face! We will miss you in Boston….but hey now I have a reason to cheer for the Dbacks! Best of luck in 2013!!!

Miss you in Bean Town! You were a fan favorite and I loved the way you play the game. Was sad not to see you at Fenway South for ST. Best of luck with DBs. Keep playing your way.

I was a Marlins fan and that is how I became a huge Cody Ross fan. I was sorry when our 3rd rate team let you go but I was very pleased that you landed softly with the Giants and became a big part of why they won the World Series. Congratulations on the contract and I wish you all the best. As it turned out, the Marlins foolish decision worked out well for you.
