Marlins take the series

August 3rd, 2006 — article by

Thats what i’m talking about. Marlins take the series away from the Mets with a line drive double down the third base line from Cabrera in the bottom of the eighth with the bases loaded, driving in three runs to beat the Mets 4-1. Great baseball. Except for one error from Hermida that allowed a run to tie the game. Marlins played very good ball. Willis pitched a great game after his last start. We are on track. Cody hit two hard balls deep, but were caught. Ross went 0-3. But the Marlins ruled against the best team in baseball . It was sweet to see Jacobs get a home run off of Martinez. For those of you who don’t know, Jacobs was traded to Florida from the Mets. When the Mets brought up Jacobs from AAA. His first game at bat was a grand slam home run. After that game the Mets were going to send him back down to AAA. Martinez found out about it and went to management and talked them into keeping Jacobs. Thus the trade for Delgado from the Marlins. Jacobs goes to Florida. Sweet justice for Jacobs to hit a home run off of Martinez who kept him in the majors.
