Marlins 40th come back win over the Nats 8-7

September 14th, 2008 — article by

Ross was the first one over the plate for the Marlins after hitting a double and scoring off of Amezaga’s triple. That made the score 6-1. In the 8th inning Marlins scored 6 runs, thier biggest come from behind push all year went on to beat the Nats 8-7. Kudos to Anibal Sanchez, Andrew Miller, Artie Rhodes and Joe Nelson to hold down the pithcing. Great hitting by all those slumping Marlins to take a sweep against the Nats. Astro’s next. You never know what can happen.

Not only did the Marlins win tonight 2-1 against the Nats. Cantu hit his 25th home run to put the Marlins in the record books. 4 infielders to hit over 25 home runs in a season. Jacobs-32, Uggla-30, Rameriz-29 and Cantu-25. Great job fellas I don’t think this record will fall anytime soon. Congrats to the Marlins winning three in a row.  Spoil some dreams fish!!!!

Ross hits #21

Cody hits his 21st homerun of the season against the Phillies tonight. A bomb strait centerfield about 410′. Ross almost had two homeruns for the night but the second one was just foul. Darn….  Marlins win 10-8. Looks like the Marlins will get their stadium built after a court decision today. Good news for the future Miami Marlins………..

Ross Hits #20

September 8th, 2008 — article by

Cody was getting the day off when he was called upon to pinch hit in the 8th inning against the Phillies. With a runner on base Cody lines a shot to left field to hit his 20th homerun of the year. A record year for Ross with  400 at bats. Actually over 400 at bats for Cody is a career high. Well, all season has been a record year with alot of playing time for the outfielder. Errorless in 129 games with 8 assists is second in the NL on defense. I would say Ross proved his point to be the everyday starter for the Marlins. No sense in rehashing the obvious but Ross got his due with alot of hard work and some luck with players getting injured. Still should have been a no brainer, but oh well that is all ending well to wind down the season.

With three weeks left in the regular season, the Marlins have slipped 8 1/2 games behind the Mets. All we can look for is a strong ending for Cody and the excitement for next year. It has been a good year for Cody Ross and nothing came easy. Maybe he won’t have to compete for his position next year………Stay tuned.
