Other Cody Ross News Snippets from Around the Internet
The press is buzzing with Cody’s latest achievements:
- All Cody Ross ever hits is home runs (Check out this article. Great!)
- “One was Cody Ross‘ 10th May homer. This is getting ridiculous. 9 of Ross’ last 11 hits are long balls.” - Alex Carver
- “9 Of Florida Marlins outfielder Cody Ross’ 12 hits in May entering this weekend’s series against the Philadelphia Phillies, those that were home runs. Though he was batting just .202 for the season, Ross still was slugging .521 because he also had three doubles to go along with seven singles. Said Ross: “Home runs are nice, but I’d like for my average to better.” Last season, in 66 games for the Marlins, the 27-year-old Ross batted .335 with a 1.064, easily the best numbers of his career.” - Tony Massarotti
- “Center fielder Cody Ross has certainly helped contribute to that total. Ross hit a two-run homer on Saturday, giving him 10 for the month - on only 14 hits. Nine of his last 10 hits had been homers before a ninth-inning single. “It felt kind of strange to hit a single,” Ross said.:” - thespread.com
- “Cody Ross was running off the field at the end of the seventh inning Wednesday when Mets third baseman David Wright turned and said: “Don’t be afraid to hit a single.” But why hit a single when home runs are coming just as easily? Eight of Ross’ past nine hits were home runs entering Friday, joining a group of players that includes Manny Ramirez, Darryl Strawberry, Gary Sheffield, Sammy Sosa, Barry Bonds, Mark McGwire and Adam Dunn with such a streak. The fact that Ross is hitting home runs is not unusual. Last season he had 12 in 173 at-bats, the third-highest home run percentage behind Barry Bonds and Adam Dunn. Ross didn’t start Friday, but will start today and Sunday against left-handers. Ross, though, is dispelling the perception that he can only hit left-handers. He has five homers this season off right-handers and is hitting .190 against lefties and .212 vs. right-handers.” - Tom D’Angelo
- “Ross responded that his season was starting anew on May 1. Call it a coincidence, but the Marlins outfielder nicknamed “Toy Cannon” has nine home runs and 16 RBIs in May entering Friday’s series opener against the Phillies.” - Joe Frisaro

WHY NOT PLAY ROSS!!!
I will tell you why, the marlins never want to pay good money for good players I know Hanley got his but it took him a while. Here is the deal cody’s contract comes up at the end of the year if he hits 20-25 homers he needs to be compensated for that so are they saying lets keep him out of he lineup so his numbers dont get out of hand and we dont have to pay an arm and a leg to renew him even though he is well worth it.Don’t forget this game is a business. I’m sure Freddy has say so and probably wants to play him but does upper management have something to do with it.

I thought that too for a while but I disagree. Marlins are making a run for it so why hold back a player? They need all the offense they can get. Ross’ numbers have already hit the payday stage. Use him or trade him. The Marlins options for centerfield right now are Ross Ross and Ross. Jones has done nothing. If they do not want to keep Ross for centerfield he has trade value. Keep his numbers up. It is evident that the Marlins do not feel Ross is the answer in centerfield with Maybin in the wings. Time will tell…….
