CODY ROSS STROKIN STROKIN SSSSTROKIN
9 out of Cody’s last 11 hits have been homeruns. Wow, that has to be some kind of record. Enough said.

It’s great to see Cody doing so well. I became a big fan of his the year he was with the Mudhens. I met Cody’s wife (at the time girlfriend) Summer when she worked in a local deli not too far from 5/3 Stadium at a place called “Grumpys”. I heard her make a comment about being from New Mexico and I asked her what she was doing in Toledo. She mentioned that she was there with her boyfriend who played for the Mudhens. Being an avid ball fan myself, I asked her his name and she said “Cody Ross”. I told her to let Cody know that he now had a new #1 Fan in Toledo and I started tracking his daily stats and WOW, what a season Cody had. I was at 5/3 field on Cody Ross “bobblehead day” and he truly was a fan favorite. My daughters and I met him and Summer at a Red Robin in Toledo about a day after he was called up to the Tigers in early July… talk about a proud moment, and he was such a nice guy to talk to (and Summer was always pleasant, too). He showed me his official Major League Baseball player identification card. I later kept in touch with him when he was with the Las Vegas 51’s and helped him and his family get some special treatment when they visited Las Vegas. Cody and Summer sent me an invite to their wedding in Carlsbad in December 2004, but I was not able to attend. I later made a plaque for him in honor of his first major league home run, a grand slam off of Cliff Lee of the Indians.
My acquaintance with Cody is my first “first-hand” experience with a major leaguer and I have literally logged online every day of the baseball season during each of the past few baseball seasons to check his status. Still his number 1 fan in Toledo and hope he gets a shot to be a true “day to day” player that doesn’t have to worry about whether or not he will be in the line-up. I will continue to follow him everyday by keeping track on the internet or seeing him make ESPN highlights with his “monster shots”. My best to him and Summer and their son, Hudson.

:razz:Toledobob, welcome to the Ross site and sharing that story. Its been a long road since Toledo but ain’t that what its all about! We will keep fighting for him on the net, in the mean time maybe Fredi will give him more of a chance. Thanks for logging in.
