Just another average day for Ross

July 19th, 2008 — article by

This saturday started out in frustration again. Fox is going to air the game on national TV. Great! We’re going to hear the big time announcers and see the Marlins on National TV. NOT> We got the Red Sox v Angels game. My XM antenna was out so it looked like we were going to spend another afternoon in the truck………Another trip to the dredded WALMART to get a new antenna. It worked, and we got to listen to the game on the frickin radio. Coulda been worse I guess. As soon as Cody’s first bat started with a single, I knew it was going to be a good day from here. Cody’s next bat was a triple to right field almost over the wall, Cody’s third bat was a double. Holy shit. A home run away from the cycle which no Marlin has ever achieved. It was not to be but he was close to that elusive feat. Seems Cody is sticking his bat in places where not many Marlins have been. Last night ended his 17 game hitting streak. Darn@#$%. Only one other Marlin has gone that far with a hitting streak. Today was just one homerun away from another milestone for a Marlin. Pretty good for a guy that has had to fight tooth and nail to play fulltime. As the game ended on NATIONAL TV I listened on the radio to the postgame and wondered how the headlines would have read if Cody had gone for the cycle. IT was just another game for Cody. 3 for 5 and just a liner note of the feat not met. Just another game for Ross. A good one at that……. OH by the way, Marlins won the game 9-5. A game and a half behind the Phillies.
