Marlins lead the NLE

April 13th, 2008 — article by

When is the last time you saw that headline after 12 games? The Marlins swept the Nationals and then lost two out of three agains the Astros.

The Marlins lost the game today against the Astros 5-1 with a Willingham home run (three for the year). But the good news was our new young pitcher brought up after Vandenhurk was sent back down after two bad starts. Burke Badenhop gave up 7 hits over five innings, two of which were home runs to start his first game in the big leauges. He threw strikes and had good movement on the ball. Looks like he won himself a starting position in the line up. Burke was part of the Willis Cabrera trade with the Tigers. Looks like that trade wasn’t so bad. Willis is not pitching so well and is now on the DL with an overextended knee injury.

Cody Ross started in centerfield today going 3 for 4 and a stolen base. IF the wind had not been blowing in he would have had a home run. His fly out was also a long ball, so Cody settles for a double and two singles. Hmmmmm, that double was off a righty…..I think he had a single off a righy also.  Way to go Cody! Looks like your groovin!

We have an interesting theory about Cody Ross. When he shattered his bat in the 2nd inning today, was it a Roy Hobbs moment? Read more about it here:
