Marlins looking for a sweep against the Pirates

April 5th, 2008 — article by

The Marlins played real baseball tonite beating the Pirates 7-3. Hanley started the game off with a solo home run. Later in the game Jacobs coming off a walk off home run last night hits a grand slam to take the lead over the Pirates 5-1. Brett Carrol bobbles a ball in right field and throws the guy out at second. Later in the game Carrol hits a tripple and then scores on a squeeze play with Traynor batting a great bunt. This is actually looking like a ball team. Hendrickson goes 6 1/3 innings with a run given up. The bullpen is smoking with Pinto, Kensing, Miller and Lindstrom closing the game out. Its that simple folks. Yea right! Cody goes 1-4 with a double off the wall in the eighth. Ross hit long outs all night. Its just a matter of time. Trust me. Marlins now lead the NLE. After the game Marlins found out that we have Wel Helms back. Wow. Maybe Wes can repeat what he did in 06. Sad to say that Jason Woods will go back to ALb. I think that is a good move by the Marlins with Cantu not doing so well at third……. I wonder what happened to Hermida, who was supposed to play tonite with the Marlins.

After the show from Jacobs with the walk off home run last night and the grand slam tonight, he might be a shoe in for batting third. I agree with Tommy that Hermida needs to proove his worth  before he gets the spot. If you look at Jacobs bats in the last couple of games, he is smoking the ball. You might call Jacobs a streaky hitter, We have all dealt with that. I say leave Jacobs batting third untill Hermida can proove his worth.

Was that a right hander that Cody got his double off of? Yea I think it was. How the heck did that happen? Cody can only hit left handers. Sssso much for that fiasco platoon situation with Amezega. Fredi: leave Ross in the game so he can get into his game. I could go on about this subject all night. Uggla comes to mind.
