Marlins UH Lose in the ninth

August 26th, 2008 — article by

With a three run lead in the ninth. Kevin Gregg gives up 4 runs to lose against the Braves in the ninth inning. I had to reread that to make sure I got it right. I still can’t believe it. Shock:::::: We lost the darn game at one time leading 8-4. I have almost given up on the Marlins doing anything right.  Fredi actually managed a good game but the players gave it up. Hanley had a text book double play and blew it when he couldn’t find the ball out of his beautifull teal and brown glove in the ninth inning. Gregg could do nothing but throw fast balls with any control and it got him in the end. The cocky Escobar hit the walk off base hit to win the game. That alone is devestating. This is a guy that flips his bat at the plate and gives an attitude that makes you want to punch him. Well he won the game. The sad thing about this game was Gregg came in the game bottom of the 8th and struck out Chipper with the basses loaded. Looked like Gregg was on the money. WRong. Marlins lose 9-8. or something like that

Good news flash: Cody goes 3-5 with a home run (his 19th of the year). A single and a double to have a 4 rbi night. There was also talk of Cody getting a gold glove vote with no errors and like 5 or 6 assists.  Pretty good for a player that the Marlins did not want to start in centerfield. The Marlins did everyting in their power to find a centerfielder other that Cody which failed. Ross came thru and I predict that Ross will have another end of the season push to make his arbitration year a  winner. I think the Marlins will try and keep Cody because of his ability to play all three outfield positions and his ability to hit. He has out played Hermida and  Willingham. We shall see.

The way the Marlins are playing I don’t see them getting into the post season. Luck could change though
